Brand protection

Unfair competition online: fake reviews, click fraud and other practices

Online rivalry can get dirty. Here are the most common practices and how to protect your company and campaigns.

Most common practices

  • fake negative reviews on Google and portals,
  • deliberate clicking of competitor ads to burn budget,
  • copying website content and photos,
  • using someone else’s brand in ads and domains.

Fake reviews

Reviews that break platform rules can be reported for removal. Reply calmly and factually, because future customers read those replies. Regularly collecting reviews from happy clients makes isolated false posts less damaging.

Invalid traffic in campaigns

Google and Meta have tools to detect invalid clicks. Also analyse traffic, exclude suspicious sources and use bot-filtering tools.

When to involve the law

In Poland these issues are covered by, among others, the act on combating unfair competition. For serious breaches, collect evidence and consult a lawyer.
